About The System Upgrade
On Sunday, 8 December 2002, the Seventeen or Bust system underwent a
major overhaul. A new system server and website, which have been in
development for several weeks, has now been placed into production.
The new system is designed to be able to handle much, much higher load
than the original system, and many new features and statistics have
been added to the website. Here's a brief list of the major visible
changes.
- Web Accounts: All users now have passwords they can
use to log onto the website and change their preferences. New
passwords will be emailed to all users on 9 December 2002. Note
that you DO NOT NEED this password to run the SB client;
ONLY to access protected features of the website.
- True Team Support: The SB network now has true
team support, with support for team management, creation and
statistics. Consequence: the "Team"
configuration field in the client is now IGNORED. In order
to change your team, you'll have to use the website.
- Improved Statistics: The statistics have been improved,
including the graphics. They should now be more informative,
accurate, and much faster to load.
Because this system upgrade is new, it is very likely that bugs will
occur. Please notify Dave at danorris@uiuc.edu if you notice anything wrong.
